About Me

My name is Scout. I was named after the narrator of To Kill a Mockingbird. So yes, I’m a girl! People always seem surprised that Scout is a girl’s name. Silly people.

I live in New Mexico. My favorite things to do are walking, hiking, playing tug-of-war, learning tricks, going to agility class, and sleeping on my pillow next to my people.

My birthday is August 14, 2006. Current thinking is that I am most likely an Australian Kelpie or AK mix. You can read more about Kelpies on the “About Kelpies” page. I am medium-sized and weigh about 45 lbs. I have black fur with white markings on my chest and chin, and light brown, almond-shaped eyes. I mostly have short fur, but with feathering on my ears, tail, and elbows. My ears are sort of floppy, but I am practicing very hard to make them stand up. I have absolutely giant ears and paws and tongue, and I use my paws a lot more than most dogs—if I have to grab something, I would rather use my paws than my mouth, and I have very good control over my paws and can grab fairly small objects with them.

Thank you for sharing, Scout. I used to have doggies, but it got too hard. After the last one died, I was so sad. I said never again. And my pooties keep me warm at night, so I don’t miss the doggies as much. I will try to send you a picture of Gretchen. She was a big doggie, but sweet, like you are.
